Five years since the released Holy Noise (2106), finally we released the next volume of Indonesian Shoegazer Compilation, titled Ocean Blender. Released on digital and cassette format. 16 bands. Old and new sounds from our small scene in Indonesia. Blissful till the end.
The bands are:
Seven years ago, we released a compilation album, titled Holy Noise: Indonesian Shoegazer Compilation, on cassette. 17 bands contributed on the compilation with liner notes written by Arian13 (Seringai). The idea of this compilation was started from a music gig that we held, way before this label existed.
The name of the gig, Tribute to 90’s Shoegaze, a crappy name but what the hell, at Prost Beer House, Kemang Jakarta, April 2009. The bands that played on this gig, like Damascus, Sharesprings, Mellonyellow, Jellybelly, and Avenue, were also the event organizer. Long story short, the show was sold out, we printed just 100 tickets as we thought not many will buy them, but 500 people came and made us to make another tickets from scrappy note. From that point, i felt that we already got a solid scene here for shoegaze and dreampop.
Scene that celebrates itself. From a bunch of bands held a show together for fun sake, eleven years ago here in Jakarta Indonesia. Still remembered when Myspace was the place for small bands to networking each others, shares our music, came to the show if one of our bands played, buy the physical releases of each bands. Simple as that.
Nostalgia of the past that not really matter actually, as new and cool bands keep showing up. But like it or not, there was this honest and sincere romanticsm of the things that we do, critics and appreciation, and some of the bands on the first compilation were experienced all of them.
Ocean Blender is the continuity of Holy Noise compilation. Local bands like Themilo, Lass, and Bleary Eyes, Sharesprings (our favourite band!), and the new ones like Dive Collate, Eyesun, Winona Dryver atau Allo Cables. Sixteen bands in the Ocean Blender that everyone should dig their sounds and they got their own romanticsm of doing what they loved. Hear the tapes and enjoy the bliss!
