Silverglaze
“The Lost Tapes”

Silverglaze. Band ini tak pernah manggung, belum merilis album fisik, kecuali dua lagu di laman Myspace. Sedikit yang tahu keberadaan band ini, termasuk siapa para personilnya. Padahal para personilnya bukan orang sembarang.

Sampai setahun lalu, suatu malam di café Bara, Bandung, saya diajak ngopi oleh pendiri Themilo, Ajie Gergaji. Obrolan nostalgia masa lalu di sela harum kopi yang berujung disodorkan ke saya, dua keping cd demo dari dua band berbeda, salah satunya bertuliskan Silverglaze. “Mau nggak elo merilis Silverglaze via Anoa Records?” ujar Ajie.

Wah! Serius itu momen yang aneh. Dahulu Anoa Records pernah me-listing band-band yang harus dirilis, dan band ini sempat masuk target kami. Beberapa tahun kemudian band ini kembali nongol di depan muka.

Kami sudah tahu Silverglaze sejak era Myspace. Ajie pula yang kasih tahu soal proyekannya bersama Widi dan Ajo. Saya ngefans berat dengan Cherry Bombshell sehingga apapun turunannya yang berbentuk band pasti saya nikmati.

Silverglaze semacam ‘reuni’ kecil dari tiga eks Cherry Bombshell. Paska mereka resign dari Cherry Bombshell, Ajie Gergaji fokus dengan Themilo, dan Widi & Ajo berumahtangga dan menepi dari musik. Ajie bercerita bagaimana dirinya tetiba dikontak Ajo untuk terlibat dalam band ini, lalu ditunjuk mengisi part lead dari materi Silverglaze.

Materi Silverglaze malah tak diikuti dengan aksi panggung. Didiamkan begitu saja, seperti ditelantarkan. Saya sempat bertanya sama Ajie, kunaon ini, kok nggak diterusin. Dia sendiri juga bingung jawabnya. Namun mereka bertiga terlalu sibuk lebih tepatnya dengan keluarga.
Tawaran Ajie kepada Anoa Records, tak mungkin disia-siakan begitu saja. Silverglaze adalah indiepop rock unit yang solid. Musik yang dibuat Ajo, vokal dan lirik oleh Widi, serta Lead oleh Ajie Gergaji, adalah chemistry yang dahulu pernah hadir di Cherry Bombshell. Silverglaze seperti an unfinished business di antara ketiga sahabat ini.

Tentu Silverglaze memiliki sejarah dengan band mereka terdahulu, Cherry Bombshell. Namun Silverglaze menghadirkan sesuatu yang tak kalah menyenangkan untuk disimak. Hooks, lirik, dan musik yang anthemic, serta kesukaan mereka terhadap band-band alternatif 90’an, menjadi daya tarik musik mereka.

CD Essays dengan 6 track yang ada ditangan anda, adalah the lost tapes yang seharusnya tak akan bisa terilis jika Ajie Gergaji tak menemukan CD masternya di gudang rumahnya. Ini adalah fragmen musik yang menyenangkan untuk didengar oleh siapapun. Enjoy!
